What We Do
Coined “The coolest store in town” - We proudly provide unique, one-of-a-kind gifts and Keepsakes!
Our story:
The old log cabin we call our store was originally built on the Mescalero Apache reservation, used as their school. In the late 1900’s, it was transported to midtown Ruidoso and became the home of “TWO BEARS TRADING POST”. It remains an active trading post to this day under the name “Wooly Bears”. Mark “Two Bears” who started the post twenty some years ago is still around and still active in keeping our store supplied with some of the finest antler lighting and metal-on-antler decor. His knowledge and expertise about the mountain man lifestyle is second to none.
Shoppers walk in and look around and often ask, “Where do you get this cool stuff?” Our unique selection is brought into the store from local and distant hunters, trappers, & local artisans. Much of our inventory is truly one-of-a-kind products, purchased or traded for at the “Mountain Man Rendezvous’” that are held at various locations in and around the US. We also have many beautiful products handmade by the Mescalero Apache tribal members. Because we are a trading post, our products change daily!
If you have never laid eyes on a black bear, we have several! If you haven’t felt a Linx pelt, come shop with your hands. You won’t believe how soft a beaver pelt is! If you have dreamed of a buffalo robe in front of your fireplace, we have them, even painted and they are a work of art. If you need a durable rug with a western feel, check out our cowhide and calf skin collection. Our sheepskins are top quality, and we have many colors and sizes in stock. They are beautiful draped over the back of a leather sofa or chair! If native art is your thing, we have amazing hand crafted quivers made of fur and leather. If you are a gun collector, you will love our old musket loaders and flint lock, black powder hand guns. We have the best selection of hand forged knives in town, including black bladed knives made by “Two Feathers”. Our pocket knife selection is amazing. If you are decorating a cabin, you must check out our antler lighting. There is just SO much to see and feel.
We invite you to come to our store, stay a while, learn about old crafts, and take home a keepsake.

“This is a great place for one of a kind gifts. I get some of my hard to get leather goods here, but they have everything from coon skin caps to leather bracelets and handmade knives. Bring the Family next time you are in the Village.” - Posted by Joe, 3 years ago
